Arrow We cordially invite you to join us SEPT. 22 for the 100th Rededication 1907-2007 honoring a good man from Rhode Island, General George Sears Greene ~ Culp's Hill ~ Gettysburg Nat'l Military Park. On behalf of RIMOLLUS and the Greene Family, we are hosting this once-in-a lifetime ceremony. A transport bus will take guests at 11a.m. from the NPS Visitor Center to Culp's Hill. Ceremony begins at 12:30 p.m. We wish to have as many of Greene's units he commanded participate in the procession and escort guard. Dr. John Latschar will be our guest speaker. To RSVP, contact G. Mierka ribatterya@verizon.net (401)821-8630 & receive a more detailed announcement. We need to give NPS a visitor count prior to Sept.22 as well as the U.S. Army Museum, Carlisle Barracks for a special tour we have arranged -- if you arrive before Sat. Sept. 22, we will gather at the Gettysburg Visitor Center Parking Lot and convoy to the museum. Cpt. Greg Payne is coordinating procession/escort guard Payne_and_Ink@verizon.net (401)647-9698 by Sept.8 to be included in the commemorative program. To be a supporter and receive the commemorative ribbon and include a "Memorial Script" in the program honoring your family, ancestor, business, etc., a donation of $10.00 is requested payable to RIMOLLUS, 50 Taft St., Coventry, RI 02816.
Unfortunately Gen. Greene's cemetery site was severely vandalized 2 weeks ago in the Village of Apponaug, Warwick, RI, where he was born & buried. His comrades brought a boulder he stood on commanding his men on July 2 from Culp's Hill and placed it as his headstone. Many people worked together to clean, find stones & help repair them. It was a very sad few days. We also plan to honor a private co. who came forward to lend a hand, donating services, employees, & equipment to right stones and repair, and weld some of the original iron fencing--he is planning to be with us on Sept. 22. We thank you so much for helping us make this a great day.
