Is anyone going to Elmira? The registration paperwork says that the park is now run by the State of New York, not Chemung County. I am hoping that this will mean a higher quality event, with better standards. I guess we'll see if it makes any difference.

I'm hoping to be able to day trip it, if I can escape for a few hours. It would be nice to meet up with group and say howdy..Also, have never been to this reenactment, so it would be nice to check it out..

Our unit plans to be there, and my understanding is they need as many Federal troops as possible, so grab yer gear and get in line.....

The PARK is now operated by the State Park System. The EVENT is still run by a committee of reenactors. How that will change the event, if at all, is open to speculation.

I believe the state always owned the park and that Chemung County operated it. The event is still put on by The Chemung Living History Center ,who is not a committee of reenactors. They have a few members who are reenactors.

Strange but wasn't the change last year back to doing the event the way it use to be suppose to be a improvement? If so why is there now a shortage of federals. The years Mike Lavis had the command the Union side almost doubled in size from what it had in previous years.

I am signed up for this years event .Heck cabin fever sucks, It's nice to see old friends once in a while and I don't do this just to sit home every weekend. I am registered as confederate because I want to, but may go Union if I want to.If the fed side is hurting theres a reason,Lets hope it's not being ignored.
