I was just thinking of the events held in New York, does anyone know of ones that show promise of growing into an event equal to any held down south if they were properly supported. Or alternativley, is there a spot that would be great for an event..
Down my way the Erie Canal village is an excellent site, with large tracts of land to use, the men and women of the 12th regulars put on a fine event every year, and I must say two years ago, it was good as any I have seen in a while with a large number of reenactors, and at least six or seven pieces of artillary. I had enjoyed it more then Mumford, in spite of the fact that Mumford had more of infantry turn out, but you missed half of the event as it was flowing thru the village and only on the last part did the troops enter onto the green where the event could be seen by the spectators..
One great spot which would be great for a future event is at the Old Stone Fort, Schoharie, NY , a Rev war event is held there every two years and is a fantastic spot, with great period buildings and plenty of land..

What does the list think of trying to pick one or two New York events as a maxium turn out for this states reenactment groups; sort of our own mega-event.. I could see it as sort of a grand tatical, and allow for battalion training without leaving the state..Rev war and F-n-I units use Ft. Ti and Crown Point for an event like this to great success..Any thoughts?

Will,

I'm really liking the Old Stone Fort idea, you are I have discussed it before. It is great ground for such, and they are open to the prospect, as I have had discussions with the fort regarding the idea. We really need to develop it and get it going.
