I was just thinking that since this forum is mainly New Yorkers, might it be a good spot to organize group tours to some historical spots, just thinking if we had enough interest might be able to get a bus tour going to some locations.. Also, with enough interest it wouldn't be too expensive to hire a guide on one of the battle fields, or even a bus to a national event..Anyone have any thoughts on this...Hmmm a sudden thought maybe an annual event where each year we choose a unit, then tour the battlefields the unit was involved in...

ps put a poll in just to get peoples ideas

I think that it would be fun to head west for an event. I've heard that the Shiloh Living History put on by the SCAR is a must attend event.

Thats what I was thinking, something like this would be most useful for a group of guys wanting to make a trip out to Chickamagua, or an event like Franklyn..If we had a group of people willing, the price wouldn't be too bad, especially taking in the price of gas..

Well, keeping the bus thing in mind, This might be somthin to consider going down to September Storm or the Bolivar Heights event!?!?! Be able to watch movies or sleep down and back, not really have to stop too many times and have someone else drive for you. Thats my kind of trip. If this is somthin worth considering, my fiancees father is head of transportation at Ridge Road Express, can u say price cut?? Talk it over.

I think the hardest part of this operation would be deciding where the pick up points would be, they would have to ben central to people and yet on the way to our destination...

Gents,

I think that a bus to an event like September Storm would be fun. However, as mentioned, a central starting point would have to be chosen. But what if every unit (i.e. 149th, 140th, Salt Boilers, whomever) carpooled to that location. It might make it a situation where we can finally meet each other face to face.
