Anyone interested in discussing Amherst? I thought it was a much better event than the last two years. It certainly is growing and has the potential to become a pretty good regional event. Amherst is not there yet, but I for one will be glad to see a decent June event again in Western NY. The combined 49th, 140th & 149th NY suffered heavily from French Leave Sunday morning but were reinforced back to full strength by battle time. Thanks to Greg and others that picked up a musket and fell in Sunday.

Next stop, Genesee Country Musuem.

Well we all had a great time, the 140th were great folks to fall in with as usual. It was nice to meet Greg. I think the best part of the event for us was the authentic camp, and having our own event within the event. Battle was not too bad, firing distances were kept far enough away, no one ever got too close and that is not typical at the local events, thus it was a pleasing surprise. Nice period buildings, but the loud speakers and music took away from the setting. I think the event has huge potential if we can continue to grow it, and keep getting more and more authentic minded to attend. All in all, I'd go again. See you at Mumford. Here is a pic of the 49th/140th/149th camp. Enjoying some mid-day shade.
