My name is Gary Glaser and I am the mounted commander of the 9th New York Cavalry. We are located in the Niagara, Hamilton area but have members across Souther Ontario. Our members are both mounted and diss-mounted troopers. The Ninth New York Cavalry has been reactivated by a group of living historians and civil war enthusiasts interested in the portrayal of the life of the Federal Horse Soldier. As a group, we participate in living history encampments, re-enactments, and giving informative lectures throughout the year in both Ontario and the U.S.

This is a short history of the unite we re-enact: The Ninth New York Cavalry Regiment was mustered in Westfield, New York during September of 1861 and made up of men from the various counties of Western New York and Northwest Pennsylvania. By the end of the war, the Ninth New York Cavalry had taken part in over 141 engagements with Confederate forces. It was mustered out of service in July 1865. If you are interested in receiving more information on our group do not hesitate to contact me at sgtgaryglaser@hotmail.com or visit us on the web at www.9thnycavalry.com.

Thank You

Gary Glaser
